Tanjore Big Temple
Brihadeeshwarar Temple is a famous shivan temple located in Tanjore. It is famous for its architectural works which was built before 1000+ years(as everyone knows). I was much excited to see the historical building, but ended up with so many questions in mind.
Any temple we visit, the sanctuary will be located in the last and down to the earth. But in Big temple, Lord Shiva’s sanctuary is located up where people climb up the stairs to pray. Why it is so high, is there any secret place under the temple?
Also, I’ve heard of people saying that the temple is built in a way where natural disasters like earthquake can’t destroy the temple. Because, the temple is set up or built as if tanjore toy which doesn’t fall on floor. But, no where it is mentioned about the same.
Other temples don’t have open space or any paths directly from the sanctuary, but this temple has paths on both the side to exit. On what thought process these were built?
This temple was built without cement or bricks; and only the stones were arranged that too without any sticky material. How does this kind of building is still stable? How did they connect each stone during building?
I used to feel good vibes while entering a temple. But this temple have no vibrations or I can’t feel those as it’s just a tourist spot and a historical place. Though astonishing, answers are yet to be found.
Do share your thoughts on the same, suggestions are welcomed, Thank you.
